Media Mogul Black Stiffs NY Public Library

Media mogul Conrad Black, head of Hollinger International, a company with controlling interest in the Chicago Sun-Times, the Jerusalem Post and London Daily Telegraph has yet to make good on a $100,000 pledge to the New York Public Library, according this NY Times article. Black and his wife Barbara Amiel Black, who co-chaired a NYPL benefit in Novemeber, pledged the money at the swanky Literary Lions dinner. A spokesman for the company declared that Black would make good on the pledge, although others question his ability to do so. Investors have complained about Black’s dealings with the company and an investigation has been launched. NYPL representatives say they fully expect Black to follow through.
