The Sky Is Falling! It was so hot in the Mandeville (LA) branch library that a fire sprinkler went off. At least, that’s what they think happened.
The branch has been closed since the sprinkler soaked books and carpets, doing ten-thousand to 15-thousand dollars worth of damage. It is scheduled to reopen on Monday.
The sprinkler was near a skylight. Parish library director Janice Butler says officials think intense sunlight pouring through the skylight may have made the sprinkler so hot that the electronics interpreted it as fire.
