Malaysian Libraries at risk of being obsolete

The nation’s 1,384 libraries are in danger of becoming obsolete if they do not keep up with the times, warned Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) director-general Datuk Nik Zainiah Nik Abdul Rahman yesterday.

“With people now turning to the Internet to do their research and acquire knowledge, many of the 1,384 libraries in the country may be forced to close down for lack of visitors or users,” she said at the opening of the First National Innovative and Creative Circles (ICC) Convention for Libraries here.
