Making Copies

There is an excellent article in this months Smithsonian Magazine about Chester Carlson, the inventor of xerography. Since laser printers also use this technology a huge amount of the printed word is published using Chester’s invention. At the Smithsonian website there is a synopsis, of the article but at the bottom of the page you can downlaod the entire article as a PDF. At first, nobody bought Chester Carlson’s strange idea. But trillions of documents later, his invention is the biggest thing in printing since Gutenburg. Read the article to see the role that the library played in the invention of xerography.
