Major donation opens Bodleian Library to world

Good News For The Bodleian: The Bodleian Library in Oxford, whose world famous collection has up to now only been open to scholars, is about to open its doors to the general public thanks to a major cash donation.

The 5 million pounds ($10.8 million) donated by Julian Blackwell of Blackwells bookshop chain of the same name will allow the library to build a new hall where much of the collection will be on permanent display.
