As part of the issuance ceremony libraries will develop a special cancellation and envelope design unique to each library holding an event! There is no limit to the number of libraries that can hold an event. To assist libraries interested in this collaborative project with the Library of Congress and their local postmaster, staff in the Bicentennial Program Office at the Library of Congress have prepared an information kit covering every aspect of planning a second-day issuance event. Available upon request to libraries, the kit includes media guidelines, sample press releases, tips on working with the local postmasters, information about locating and working with local philatelic groups, programming suggestions and ideas for planning a stamp issuance event, and a planning timetable and checklist.
