Pippa Greensmith is campaigning to save the local library in Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire , a village at the end of the metropolitan tube line. She’s collecting signatures for a petition to keep the library open.

An article at the ALA Website talks about many British libraries that may face closings due to lack of funds.
The proposed closings follow a March 2005 report from a U.K. House of Commons committee that found 50% of library services as “persistently below standard” after decades of underfunding.
Gee, I wonder what they THOUGHT would happen to the services if they didn’t fund them.
