Patience and Fortitude will be looking a little bare this holiday season.
The famous library lions that stand guard over the main branch at 42nd St. and Fifth Ave. St. won\’t be wearing their usual Christmas wreath necklaces.

The holiday tradition – and photo op for countless tourists – has fallen victim to pollution, which has corroded the marble on the silent sentries outside the majestic Beaux-Arts building.
