Library Leaders…Trading Places?

Four candidates remain in the running for President of the Boston Library the Boston Globe reports: Finalists include Susan Hildreth, Amy E. Ryan, Mario M. Gonzalez, and possibly Thomas F. Birmingham, a former president of the Massachusetts State Senate. Unlike the other three, lifetime librarians, Birmingham is an attorney and teaches state and local government at Tufts University.

    Candidates should be asked how they would develop improvements for easier navigating of Boston Public Library buildings, floors, departments, collections, curatorial experts…

    Usability of our Boston Public Libraries’ collections needs much improvement.

    Former Boston Public Library head. Government Printing Office.
    Word is, whether true or false, that the former head of our Boston Public Library might be the next head of the GPL Government Printing Office?… if so, would he be called the Public Printer?

    Are there two presidents at our Boston Public Library?… a) The board president and the b) head of the library?

      two presidents
      There are not two president’s of the boston public library. There is the library president and there is the Board of Trustees which has a chairperson.

    Continuing public session. Selecting a Boston PL president.
    Word is, whether true or false, that there’s a public session continuing at this time at our Boston Public Library on the first floor of the old building in the so called Orientation Room… for the selection of the BPL head.
