Library fights hard to begin new chapter

Thanks to Michael McGrorty for this one. Library fights hard to begin new chapter is one from the USA Today on the Northside branch library in New Jersey. Since October, the city’s Northside section had become, in the words of its city councilman, “the O.K. Corral.” Gunshots rang out almost every night. Bullets crashed through living room windows and into cars.

Seven days before the library was to reopen, shots were fired around 3 p.m., as kids walked home from school. Four nights later, gunfire across the street from the library. The following night, shots around the corner from the library.

Since the library reopened, police say not a single gunshot has been reported in the “O.K. Corral.”
