Our LISNews friend, Michael “Library Dust” McGrorty has posted his tongue-in-cheek list of new holiday reads. Guaranteed to delight and/or offend.
ALA: Conservative Bastion by Anonymous (ALA Editions). A smoking-gun expose of the right-wing bent of the ALA Council and Executive Board, written by an insider. Author reveals secret support for Republican candidates, coded support for Patriot Act in outwardly opposed resolutions. Book reveals the shadowy cabal which controls lunch selections at Council meetings, exposes the “fleshpot environment of annual conventions.
Good stuff.
My favorite is the “Bi-Polar Express”, but they are all funny.
Satire and stuff like that.
I wrote a “tongue in cheek” comment to this story about an hour ago and I’ll be darned if it disappeared! I know we have to moderate/delete/whatever if it’s offensive. But all I did was say I believe it’s true: the ALA is actually a rightwing cabal AND I implied that John Ashcroft was an inbred degenerate. Was it making fun of the ALA? Was it hinting JA is a genetic disaster waiting to happen? Please tell! I’m dying to know!
Re:Satire and stuff like that.
Sorry ’bout that. Nothing directed at you. There was some glitch in the first posted story that kept screwing up the code and rendering the link dead. So, I just killed the first post and re-did it.
Re:Satire and stuff like that. 🙂
Thanks!
