Library delegation to visit, offer help to Salinas

Anonymous Patron writes “Salinas California continues to make the news. Monterey County Herald Reports A delegation of top state and national library officials will make an unprecedented visit to Salinas next week to find out what can be done to keep the city’s libraries from closing.

Michael Gormon, president-elect of the American Library Association, said the delegation will arrive on Wednesday to embark on a fact-finding mission to determine what can be done to help keep the libraries open. The group will meet with Salinas Mayor Anna Caballero, as well as with City Council members and other library advocates to see what can be done at the state and national level.

Other members of the delegation include: Linda Crowe, representing the Monterey Bay Area Cooperative Library System; Susan Hildreth, California state librarian; John Kallenberg, former California Library Association president and former Fresno County librarian; Danis Kreimeier, California Library Association president; and Vickie Johnson, ALA councilor for the California chapter.”
