Library delegation makes pitch

Monterey County Herald Reports on the ALA Posse that showed up in Salinas this week. Michael Gorman of the American Library Association spoke during a meeting of Save Salinas Libraries, a citizens’ group aimed at finding a long-term solution to the city’s library closures, at Madonna Del Sasso Church. His speech capped a daylong visit by state and national library advocates.

“The fact is that a source of revenue to provide an adequate library service is necessary,” Gorman said. “My presumption is that the city of Salinas in its present financial situation is not capable of supporting a library service that this community deserves.”

If I was a bettin’ man, I’d bet we’ll be needing a posse here in Buffalo this fall.
