Libraries send Book Teasers by Email to lure Patrons – New Trend

search engine web spotted An AP Article on the Dougherty County, GA, Library that is sending out an e-mail each day featuring one or more chapters from a selected book.
The “five-minute reads” might persuade a reader to check the book out from the library, or to go to a bookstore and buy it. If nothing else, participants can share their thoughts with other readers on the library’s Web site.

    While I am now an RSS junkie, I wasn’t one a little over a year ago. Most folks I know have not discovered RSS, and many people in my library’s service region barely even use email. I think that libraries should consider using any option available to them for visibility, whether it is a daily email, an RSS feed, a website, a cable access channel, etc.
