Libraries Matter: web-based philanthropy

The largest library system in Illinois, the Alliance Library System, has launched this handsome advocacy website, LibrariesMatter.com. Member libraries can order blue Lance Armstrongish bracelets that proclaim “Libraries Matter” and sell them to patrons. Libraries can also “register” on the site to let visitors to the site know what their funding needs are. Here’s an explanation of the project, which is an attempt to apply web-based philanthropy to libraries.

    Nice idea

    Looks like an interesting idea… I wonder if we could revamp the way our t-shirts and totebags we sell look at our library for more of an advocacy sort of feel… This could be quite an adaptable project, with a little bit of an initial outlay in cash.

    The second link isn’t working for me. Says my IP address is on a blacklist (I haven’t been up to anything, I swear!)

    Perhaps it’s because I’m using Firefox and Slackware Linux… I’m getting a whole bunch of ColdFusion code when I click on that link… Weird.

    It does work in Opera. Very odd.
