Libraries grow in digital age

Instead of becoming dinosaurs, libraries are becoming “destinations,” said Diana Brown, community services manager of libraries for New Castle County.

Like any surviving species, they keep evolving to keep pace.

“These libraries are not the types of libraries we grew up in,” Brown said of the state’s 35 public libraries and four affiliates. “Every day when I go to a library, I am very surprised at the level of activity I see.”

One of the biggest draws: Computers.
