Libraries are More Security Conscious

Anonymous Patron writes Elm Leaves(Oak Park, IL): Libraries are a more security conscious since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Providing a safe and secure environment for patrons is just a little bit easier for smaller public libraries such as those in Elmwood Park and River Grove.

“We don’t inspect bags,” said Shawn Strecker, director of the Elmwood Park Public Library. “But we are more security conscious than before. A few weeks ago when there was a call about a suspicious package on a Pace bus, we were prepared. We had a drill in place.”
