Libraries across valley expanding into active community centers

The Desert Sun has a nice article that takes a look at the new public library. “Library Center,” a place where the community can converge, check out books, get passports, chat with friends, arrange business meetings, study, use the Internet and even be a little noisy – in certain areas.

“Libraries are no longer places where you go to just sit and read,” said Barbara Roberts, Palm Springs’ director of library services. “They are becoming active places, a community living room.”
