Librarians deserve action hero status

Gary Deane spotted This Column that says librarians — as well as teachers and professors — should be fascinating and looked up to by our youth through the mimicry of play. Librarians are heroes, and not in the New American way in which anybody who wakes up and waves a flag is a hero. They arm our children with weapons and abilities more powerful than M16s and the ability to shoot it at an enemy. They arm our children with knowledge and the joy of learning. They are the New World’s Sun-Tzus and Pattons.
