Librarians at the gates: “With workers locked out and picketing, we’re reminded how empty libraries would be if they were only full of books”
“The library isn’t a vending machine for factoids.” says striking librarian Peter Thompson. “What are the homeless going to do? This is their living room,” Mr. Thompson said. “What are the blind going to do? This is where they come to listen to books. What are the students going to do? This is where they come to study.”
