Librarians and Information Professionals Among Recipients of the 2005 Emerald Literati Network Award

The Outstanding Papers commendations are the centerpiece of the awards and are chosen following consultation with the journal’s editorial team. Winning authors are assured that their paper was one of the most impressive pieces of work seen over the past year.” said John Peters, editorial director at Emerald. “The Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence reflect our commitment to investing in the future of academic publishing.”

Awards were presented in six categories:

1) ASLIB/Emerald Award – presented jointly by Emerald and ASLIB, the Association for Information Management, this award recognizes an outstanding contribution to information management best practice published in any of the six Aslib-Emerald journals. The recipient of this year’s award is Juha Hakala, Helsinki University Library and the National Library of Finland, for the article “Archiving the Web: European Experiences” published in Program: Electronic Library and Information Systems, vol. 38 no. 3.

2) Outstanding Special Issue – reflecting efforts made by a Guest Editor. The recipient of this year’s award is Francisco Javier Carrillo, Chairman, World Capital Institute and Director, Center for Knowledge Systems at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico; for the Journal of Knowledge Management, vol. 8 no. 5.

3) Emerald Partnership Award – exploring new business models, this award is designed to significantly increase the dissemination of Emerald journals through content licensing initiatives. The recipient of this year’s award is Gestión magazine, published by the HSM Group in both Spanish and Portuguese.

4) Outstanding Papers – one from each of over 150 Emerald journals.

5) Leading Editors – to acknowledge the high commitment editors have to their journals and their efforts to raise and maintain the standing of the journals through nurturing new authors, networking, and promoting their journals at conferences, ten winners were selected.

6) Outstanding Service Awards – for long-standing support and consistently high contribution, five winners were selected.
