Librarian Solves Missing Person Case

What was being treated as a missing person case by Toledo (OH) police was really a matter of a multiple spellings of the last name of a man who died over a century ago. A gravestone bearing the name “Conrad Yahn” was found in an alley, and with the help of a Toldeo librarian, was matched to a grave with another marker with the name “Jahn.”

Toledo-Lucas County Public Librarian Donna Christian, who started her research when she saw the story Wednesday in The Blade, believes she knows why Mr. Yahn is buried under a different name. A microfilmed record from St. John’s Lutheran Church lists Mr. Yahn, 1876-1898, as Conrad Johann Hermann Jahn.
