Lawmakers bash book choice

Bob Cox writes: Newsobserver.com reports Republican legislators attacked UNC-Chapel Hill on Wednesday for its choice of a summer reading book about the struggles of minimum-wage workers, calling it “intellectual pornography” and “indoctrination.”

About a dozen legislators joined conservative student activists at a news conference at the General Assembly in harsh criticism of the university for assigning incoming freshmen to read a book with “a liberal bias.” They signed a letter to UNC-CH Chancellor James Moeser, asking for a meeting with the book selection committee “so that we might understand from them just what motivated the choice.”
