Korea eyes nurturing digital libraries

Anonymous Patron writes AsiaMedia:: South Korean officials and library science experts are pinning their hopes on the congress of the world’s libraries to improve local libraries and information distribution and promote the nation’s digitalized infrastructure.

The convention takes place in Seoul August 20-24 in the COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre.

To date, only three out of the 72 annual World Library and Information Congresses (WLIC) have been hosted in Asian countries — Japan, China and Thailand. Organizing committee members of the Seoul conference say that it took seven years efforts to bring the world’s “library and information Olympics” to Seoul.”
