King documents to go to his alma mater

today reports that the collection of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s
handwritten documents and books was purchased by a group of business, individuals
and philanthropic leaders and won’t be sold at auction. The collection includes 7,000 handwritten
items, including his early Alabama sermons and a draft of his “I Have a Dream”
speech. The documents will be given to Morehouse College in Atlanta, King’s
alma mater. The collection was to have been auctioned off on June 30 and was
valued at $15 million to $30 million.
