Kids’ Book on Evolution Stirs Censorship Debate in Minnesota

Fang-Face writes There is article at CommonDreams.org that reports on
censorship against evolution in children’s books; in the book Our Family Tree, to be specific. When St. Paul author Lisa Westberg Peters planned to talk about the book in classroom appearances on the 12th and 13th of May, at a Monticello, Minn., elementary school, educators backed out. Said Brad Sanderson, principal at Pinewood Elementary, “It’s a cute book. There’s nothing wrong with it. We just don’t need that kind of debate.” Chalk this one up as a prime example of the Chilling Effect in action.
