Wayne and Chicago represent the greatest concentration of Lincoln mementos, documents and images in the world, covering the full span of his life — and all within a four-hour drive of the Loop.
The new institution in Springfield is actually a modern setting for an old collection. For decades, Illinois’ 47,000 pieces of Lincolniana were stored in a sub-basement of the Old State Capitol, where there was virtually no exhibit space. Lincoln scholars knew it was there, but no one else knew.”
