Katie.com: increasingly popular book or an unrelated website?

Katherine Tarbox is the author of a book published by Penguin that is gaining popularity in the United States. It’s about her experience as a teenager encountering an online pedophile. Katie Jones is a mom and online business owner who has held the domain name Katie.com since her husband purchased it for her in 1996. It appears that Penguin is using the pressure of the publicity from the book to force her into giving up the domain name. It also appears that they were aware of her ownership of the name before publishing the book, and yet they did not change the title. More on this story can be found in this article from The Register. The paperback publishers, Plume (a division of Penguin), have decided to re-title the book A Girl’s Life Online for future printings. It only took four years for someone to admit the mistake.
