Jodi Picoult Wins Lincoln Award

In an LISNews exclusive, comes news from the prairie state where Jodi Picoult’s “My Sister’s Keeper” won the 2006 Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book Award.
In a close 2nd place was “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, and in 3rd place was “The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things” by Carolyn Mackler.

The Abraham Lincoln Award is awarded annually to the book voted as most outstanding by participating Illinois students in grades nine through twelve. Named for Abraham Lincoln, the award pays tribute to one of Illinois’ most famous residents. The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) sponsors the award. The award is designed to encourage high school students to read for personal satisfaction and become familiar with authors of young adult and adult books.
