Ismail Kadare to receive Man Booker International Prize June 27

Kathleen writes “Albanian novelist Ismail Kadare, the recipient of the inaugural Booker International Prize, has become Albania’s most celebrated and globally renowned literary export.
The Man Booker International Prize seeks to recognise a living author who has contributed significantly to world literature and to highlight the author’s continuing creativity and development on a global scale.

The three judges will discuss the process they have gone through to select the winner of the 2005 prize.
The event takes place on Monday 27 June at The University of Edinburgh’s Playfair Library.
