If you are a Manx (from the Isle of Man), the Manx National Heritage and the Department of Health and Social Security wants you to give your baby a traditional name, native to the Island.
Forget Joe or Ben or Cathy or Sue; name your son Fintan or Oshin and your daughter Fritha or Doona. Here’s the story and here’s the Isle of Man National Heritage listing of Manx first names .

That’s a nice page. While I’m ambivalent about the initiative itself, it’s nice that the national archives got involved, provided a list of some names and their meanings, and cited their sources for the information. It makes it not a government initiative out of the blue, but instead provides some historic context. Nicely done.
