Internet Society wins control of .org domain

CNN Is One Of Many stories on the “.org” Internet domain. The Internet Society, a group of 11,000 engineers and other networking experts known familiarly as ISOC, won final approval from a domain-name regulator that had sought bids to manage the Internet’s fifth-largest domain.


Dot-org, at 2.3 million names, is currently the fifth most popular domain, behind .com, .net, Germany’s .de and the United Kingdom’s .uk.
