More portable and versatile
It is great that audiobooks, previously available only in cassettes or CDs, are now available in MP3. MP3 is just another format, another choice. The content doesn’t change. MP3 is certainly more portable and versatile, as it can be played on the computer, CD player, and MP3 player. And it is more appealing to young people.

Re:More portable and versatile
But just because many patrons don’t have a computer, CD player, or MP3 player, doesn’t mean that MP3 shouldn’t be made be available for others that do. At the same time, MP3 shouldn’t be provided at the expense of cassettes. It’s all about broadening choice and access.
