Hurricane Damage to Historically Black Colleges

Today’s New York Times has an article about how Historically Black Colleges in the Gulf region have been hit particularly hard by hurricane season. The article starts off with bad news about the Xavier University library, that took on six feet of water.

. But in the parable of race and inequality left behind by the floodwaters, one chapter still to be written will be the fate of places like Dillard and Xavier, which suffered far worse damage than their wealthier counterparts on higher ground and have tiny endowments, limited resources and students who are almost all dependent on financial aid.
