Hudson River School work among 19 pieces up for auction in NYC

Anonymous Patron writes PoughkeepsieJournal.com Reports The New York Public Library says on its Web site that libraries are the memory of humankind, irreplaceable repositories of documents of thought and action.

So it has surprised some mid-Hudson residents that the institution would choose to sell some of those valuable memories.

The New York City-based library has decided to sell 19 pieces from its art collection, including Asher Brown Durand’s ”Kindred Spirits,” a landscape painting that embodies the Hudson River School.”
