HP 5 will have larger print run, better binding

Several news sources have broken the story of Scholastic\’s plans for a massive first printing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Based on Goblet of Fire\’s 3.8 million sellout followed by a hasty 3 million copy reprint, the publisher has announced that it will go ahead and print 6.8 million copies of the much-anticipated title immediately. Some stories even mention that there will be a special gift edition, gold-embossed, with a slipcase. But according to an announcement in Cader Books\’ Publisher\’s Lunch newsletter (free subscription, e-mail only), Scholastic will also be putting out \”a special reinforced-binding library edition, in a run of approximately 100,000 copies.\” This will no doubt please school and public librarians who have expressed dismay about the flimsy binding of earlier titles.
