Henriette Avram. Architect of MARC Passes

Henriette Davidson Avram is credited with the development and implementation of MARC (machine readable cataloging) as a national and international standard in the early 1970s. This cataloging standard makes it possible for bibliographic records to be shared worldwide. [from Whitney’s ‘Dead German’s Project’]. Avram was named an ALA Honorary Member in 1997.
