Henderson libraries become Redbox locations
Two Henderson libraries now house Redbox movie kiosks as part of a nationwide trial by the company.
Gayle Hornaday, assistant director for Henderson District Public Libraries, said waiting lists for movies is a chronic problem for Henderson libraries. The Redboxes are expected to alleviate the problem by providing more copies of popular films.
“We can’t really up our expenditures, but by teaming up with this vendor we can provide access to more current movies,” she said.
good idea
interesting comments on the experiment
up
I really wish people would use the word increase instead of “up” – we can’t INCREASE our expenditures….
free marketing for Redbox!
What a sweet deal for them, and the benefit to the library is a measly 3% of sales. Somehow this reminds me of visiting the Hershey factory, where the ride ends inside the gift shop.
There are other benefits
Like the fact that now they either need to buy less or no copies of the major releases.
For many people and libraries that sort of thing is a big problem where people think books are the only things that should be provided in libraries.
It might also get more people into the actual building.
They don’t mention if the 3% is net or gross though.
