Grand Rapids Public Library Appoints New Director

The Curmudgeony Librarian writes “The Grand Rapids Public Library in Michigan appointed Marcia Warner as the new director of the system. Ms. Warner replaces Bob Raz, who retired in July after 25 years in the position. Ms. Warner was previously with the library system in Saginaw Michigan. Among the challenges facing her, is a $160,000 operating shortfall in first quarter 2005. Ms. Warner hopes that the shortfall can be dealt with, without adversely affecting library service. The Grand Rapids Public Library has a main library and seven branches, and serves a population of roughly 197,800.”
