Google Mars

If you’ve been to Google today, you may have noticed that their logo has changed. Usually, that means that there’s something being commemmorated, and you might guess from the “o” looking like Mars with a couple of cute Martians peeking over it, and the “g” looking like Earth with a big telescope, that Google is celebrating a milestone in Mars exploration.

This is true only if you consider color-coded maps of one of our neighbor planets to be a milestone. Google has launched Google Mars, a project similar to the popular Google Earth, with colorful elevation maps of the planet’s surface.

And yes, you can put the word “face” into the search box and find the red spheroid’s most infamous feature.
