Google Answers Researchers Launch Uclue

Not too long ago Google Answers closed up shop. Some of their paid researchers have formed a new service called uclue.com — and it’s in beta so you know it’s cool! So now libraries with virtual reference services are just in direct competition with Uclue, Yahoo! Answers, Ask MeFi, askville, nownow, ChaCha…. we already lost the search engine wars with commercial endeavors, and are losing the content game with Google Scholar and the like, is the venerable Reference Desk far behind?

    One look at the quality of answers found
    on Yahoo! Answers should assure anyone that there will be a need for actual reference service for years to come. For some reason, the majority of respondents there seem to feel compelled to answer questions about which they know nothing, and they can’t be bothered to look anything up even via Google or Wikipedia.
