Georgia Librarian: Firing was racist act

The senior branch manager of the Dougherty County Library System’s Tallulah Massey Library, who filed a discrimination complaint against the system two years ago, was fired Tuesday by the library system’s director.
Helen Pettiford, who filed a September 2005 complaint accusing then-Library Director Mike Dugan of discriminating “against black employees in the terms and conditions of their employment such as discipline, transfers, promotions, staffing, education and hiring,” said Wednesday that her firing was a retaliatory act.
