Bill Gates can’t lose!
Donating $3 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which works to expand access to technology through public libraries is very beneficial to public libraries. It is also beneficial to Microsoft and Bill Gates as the technology made available to public libraries through the Foundation will largely be Windows and Microsoft products, thus (further) expanding into the library market. Somehow, I don’t think open source or Apple computers will be provided instead. Which library is crazy enough to refuse techology provided by the Foundation, which is “free”? Many libraries will accept gladly in the light of funding cuts and constraints. It is just too good to refuse. So, Bill Gates can’t lose either way!
