Future unclear for popular Ohio libraries

There are very few things that a person can’t find at the library these days.
The shelves are still stocked with lots of books, but library patrons also can find audio books on CD or tape, DVD movies to rent and wireless Internet access for their laptop computer.
This abundance of resources has led to high traffic volume for libraries, including the Geauga County Public Library system, which operates six libraries.
“People can pay a little bit of their taxes to get a wide variety of information,” Director Deborah O’Connor said. “It’s just a very clever idea that continues to work.”
Unfortunately, possible changes to the way in which libraries are funded could lead to problems down the road, O’Connor said.
