Free 9-11 Report Tops Bestseller Lists

The #1 spot on the Amazon and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists is currently taken by the 9-11 Commission
Final Report. Although you wouldn’t know it to read through the GPO Bookstore page, the full report is freely available online via GPO Access. Does everyone buying the printed copies know this? And would they care? See also some cataloging notes from Grace-Ellen McCrann on LIBREF-L.

    Maybe, maybe not

    As much as I love computers and as much as I dig the one I use at home (built her myself), I don’t like reading large amounts of text on a screen. Now I have a 19″ CRT, and I don’t use a flat panel at all. Not because I don’t want to, but because I just don’t have access to one. So I have no idea if reading bunches of text on a flat panel is different than a flat screen CRT. But on the CRT, it sucks. I much prefer the hardcopy. I can take it with me, I can read it wherever I am, and I can write notes in the margins.

    E-books and computers are great and all, but there’s still some features lacking from the original that many people prefer.
