COLUMBUS, Ohio — A federal judge has rejected a lawsuit by a former Ohio State University librarian who sued the school, claiming he faced discrimination for his Christian beliefs.
U.S. District Court Judge William Bertelsman has ruled that Scott Savage couldn’t show that the university made his working conditions intolerable enough to resign.
Savage said he was forced to quit after recommending a conservative book for incoming freshmen at the university’s Mansfield campus.
Savage said the school’s other picks were too liberal and reflected the promotion of a gay agenda. NBC, and more detail from Inside Higher Ed.
It’s always frustrating when
It’s always frustrating when they don’t mention the titles of the books involved and how was he recommending this: a book display, book talking?
Read the linked articles.
The librarian was part of a faculty/staff committee with the responsibility of picking a book all incoming freshmen would have to read collectively. He was upset that other committee members were recommending (in his estimation) only books with liberal/left political bent. He recommended the title The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised as Freedom by David Kupelian, which basically advances the idea that there is a “Gay Agenda” out to ruin our country.
Professors took the suggestion as anti-gay political statement (which….it is) and widely denounced the choice. The librarian got in some heated arguments, felt that he was being harassed, and resigned of his own volition.
Summary of book from publisher’s website
“The Marketing of Evil” reveals how much of what Americans once almost universally abhorred has been packaged, perfumed, gift-wrapped and sold to them as though it had great value. Highly skilled marketers, playing on our deeply felt national values of fairness, generosity and tolerance, have persuaded us to embrace as enlightened and noble that which all previous generations since America’s founding regarded as grossly self-destructive – in a word, evil.
Scott Savage — More Background

Scott Savage Savaged
I just published, “Scott Savage Savaged.” I note another ALA double standard in that blog post. And I give a hat tip to LISNews, again on this matter.
Thanks, birdie, for posting your comments on LISNews. And thanks, LISNews, for being LISNews.

The comment about the gay
The comment about the gay agenda shouldn’t have it in quotes. There IS a gay agenda, and it IS out to ruin America and ruin real marriage and families. Plain and simple. I think it needs to be appealed to a higher court and he needs to keep going until he finds a judge that is willing to force the school to apologize for its discrimination. They are also wrong for continually trying to silence the voice of ex-gays.

Yes, because gay marriage and gay adoption are the greatest threats to the American way of life.
