Students at Tallahassee’s Rickards High School have a new rule to adhere to…they must wear their ID badges at school.
Students have taken positions on both sides of the issue; sophomore Seth Walker refuses to wear his student identification badge because he says it’s degrading, but his friend Nicholas Parsons likes them because they double as students’ library cards. Brief story Tallahassee.com .
Check out this last bit of the article: “The district has been working to beef up security over the years because of issues such as threats of terrorism and increased parent expectations.” Boy, terrorists and parents in the same sentence.
“Papers, please.”
“Papers, please.”
Yes, I realize it will make the school “safer” but at what cost? If it’s allowed here, it’s just making the students “ready” for if/when the state or national gov’t requires everyone to wear theirs in plain sight.
How about make them carry it, but not display it? Besides, if ANYTHING is tied to the student ID number, this just made that information one step easier to obtain (everyone has to show their card, and thus their ID #)
