Fire victim upset at library`s request

    Oh thank you. I was about to say something like that. Note the “will just right it off,” as opposed to “we’ll”–but at least the story isn’t consistently wrong on that one. The only possible excuse I can think of is that this was a transcription from the TV story using voice-recognition software, with no human review whatsoever.

    They need a copy editor for their web site.

    Painful grammar aside, it is tragic that these people lost their home and other people lost their lives, but when someone else’s property is destroyed in your house in a fire your insurance is responsible for paying to repair or replace it.

    Of course insurance is to pay for damage to property, but if the director told the victim that the library would just “right(sic) off” the books, why the flip flop and the subsequent note to the victim about insurance? If nothing else this illustrates bad business practice and poor public service.

    Asking for $60 a couple days after someone’s lost a loved one is self-centered and foolish. If they really felt they had to be reimbursed they would have gotten a better response by waiting a week or two.
