Fargo ND couple wants book banned from school library

An Anonymous Patron writes IN-FORUM Reports A parent in Fargo, North Dakota, is seeking to have an award-winning book removed from her fourth-grade daughter’s school library, saying it is not appropriate for elementary students.
She wants the book “Mick Harte Was Here” taken out of Centennial Elementary School. Pam Herschlip said the book includes profanity and religious slurs.

The book has faced controversy in the past. It has been challenged in five different school districts since 1998, according to the American Library Association. In two of the cases, both involving Texas schools, the book was removed from the shelves for “offensive language,” the association said.”
