Embattled MA libraries cut hours, programs

Anonymous Patron writes Boston Globe Reports Battered by state and local budget cuts, libraries across the state have been curtailing programs, reducing staff, and cutting back on hours; in midsize communities, libraries have reduced their hours by an average of 10 per week, according to the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

”People who need to do research that is not available at smaller libraries expect the Worcester Public Library to be open and they are very surprised to find the doors locked,” said Penelope Johnson, the city’s head librarian.”
